The story takes place in the wonderland of Fiesso D’Artico, a whimsical area near Venice.
Here, art and artisanship go together as naturally as left foot and right. In 1934, a young gentleman named Edoardo Caovilla filled with the urge to create a unique emotion and language to express the naturality and divinity of every woman, he followed his intuitions, dedicated himself to a good cause, he singlehandedly opened a workshop to create bejeweled shoes with love, passion and excellence.
Inspired by the unique creative energy of love, Edoardo and his artisans share the same vision and passion over the years to make their dream come true, passing the secrets of trade from generation to generation. Without arrogance, the Atelier already speaks volumes about what is inside – namely, the quintessence of all Rene Caovilla’s shoemaking expertise, for it is love which brings the Maison into being. This was the beginning of the #CaovillaDream like no other, a great adventure beyond expectation. In the Atelier, trays of sparkly crystals shimmering on the artisans’ tables, with state-of-the-art computers sitting alongside, it takes an average of 48 hours to handcraft a pair of Caovilla shoes, to the highest level of meticulousness.
The design journey starts from scratch – from a few artistic strokes on paper, to the initial rendering on the computer and finally the realistic form being physically presented. With swift & sure gestures, hands slice & cuts to the finest precision; rub & retouch with the commitment to the highest quality and design integrity, every movement of the artisans is carefully choreographed as they affectionately hand-stitch a sole, add a stone, smooth the creases on leather, or thread laces through a sneaker with eagle eyes eliminate the slightest suspect element - each step is crucial, there is no room for error at all. Paradoxically, in this realm dedicated to feet, it is hands that dance, creating an art piece that is a feast for the eyes.
